A STUDY OF SLEEP DISORDERS IN PREGNANT WOMEN AT CAN THO GYNECOLOGY AND OBSTETRICS HOSPITAL

Abstract
Background: Sleep disorders are a common phenomenon during pregnancy and affect sleep quality for pregnant women. Objectives: To determine the rate and level of sleep disorders and some related factors in pregnant women at the Examination Department, Can Tho Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital in 2023. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study with analysis conducted on 420 pregnant women coming to the Examination Department at Can Tho Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital from May to October 2023. Determine the rate of sleep disorders in pregnant women based on the PSQI scale (Sleep disorders: Total PSQI score >5). Data analysis was SPSS 20.0 software. Results: The rate of sleep disorders in pregnant women was 40.2%. The study recorded 9 factors actually related to sleep disorders in pregnant women: living with parents/own house with OR=2.16 (1.168 - 3.998); having a disease under treatment OR=9.86 (3.41 - 28.523); abnormal pregnancy screening OR=5.46 (2.215 - 13.467); Pregnant women expect the baby's gender OR=4.00 (1.199 - 13.327); low self-confidence as a mother OR=4.86 (2.736 - 8.648); appearance pressure with OR=2.58 (1.502 - 4.432); work pressure OR=3.79 (1.725 - 8.343); Relationship with husband's family is not good/worsening OR=6.29 (3.382 - 11.702) and having events during pregnancy OR=3.75 (2.117 - 6.658). Conclusion: The rate of sleep disorders in pregnant women is quite high; affects the quality of life and work of pregnant women.
