Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the Smart eye camera (SEC) device in the anterior part examination compared with the slip lamp bio-microscopy (SHV) on patients. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study to select patients at Dong Do Hospital, Hanoi. The study was conducted from September 2022 to April 2023. There were 124 people (248 eyes) participating in this study. Results: Nearly half of the study subjects (48.8%) were under the age of 40. More than half of the participants were female (55.6%). Both devices were able to detect abnormalities in eyelid skin, lacrimal and eyelash (p > 0.05). The results of measuring cornea, conjunctiva, eyeball conjunctiva also have no significant difference between SEC and SHV (p > 0.05). The mean time of examination using the SEC device (2.7 ± 1.15 minutes) was higher than that of the SHV device (2.0 ± 0.60 minutes) (p < 0.05). The proportion of patients who had examination time over 2 minutes using the SEC device (60.9%) was higher than those using the SHV device (25%) (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Based on the study results, SEC and SHV had no difference in patient measurement results.
