EFFICACY OF LIDOCAINE 2% LOCAL ANESTHETIC IN MANDIBULAR WISDOM TOOTH EXTRACTION SURGERY
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of 2% lidocaine anesthetic in mandibular wisdom tooth extraction surgery. Subjects and methods: Prospective study, longitudinal follow-up of 60 patients anesthetized with 2% Lidocaine anesthetic during lower wisdom tooth extraction surgery at the Department of Dentistry - Military Hospital 103, from January 2022 to May August 2022. Results: the average dose of local anesthetic (in ml) of Lidocaine 2% was 3.96 ± 0.71 ml, and in mg, it was 79.20 ± 14.14 mg. The average 2% Lidocaine local anesthetic time was 2.60 ± 1.01 minutes. The time when Lidocaine anesthetic takes effect was mostly < 4 minutes, accounting for over 90%. The anesthetic dose needed to add local anesthetic was 1.66 ± 0.34 ml. According to the VAS scale, the evaluation of pain level found that the overall pain level during the entire surgery in the Lidocaine group was 0.96 ± 1.02 points. Conclusion: Lidocaine 2% is a local anesthetic with a rapid anesthetic effect, low rate of need for additional anesthesia, and effective pain relief during and after mandibular wisdom tooth extraction surgery.
