Abstract

Objective:The study was conducted to investigate the pattern of diseases and the outpatient treatment situation of Traditional Medicine – Saint Paul Hospital in 2019-2020. Subjects and methods: This retrospective and cross – sectional descriptive had 3.462 medical records of outpatients treated at the Department in 2019 and 2020 with ICD -10. Results: Among the patients studied, 71.69% of patients treated were women, 67.5% of patients were over 60 years old. The two groups of diseases with the highest proportion were musculoskeletal and connective tissue diseases at 50.69%, and diseases of the nervous system at 39.83%. Evaluating by common diseases, sciatic (Yeu cuoc thong) accounted for 27.93% and brachiocervical syndrome (Kien thong) accounted for 21.69%, which were the most common diseases. 97.75% of patients were treated with non-drug methods, the number of patients receiving a combination of 2 and 3 treatment methods was 41.10% and 44.02% respectively. The rates of electroacupuncture and massage were 93.5% of patients, aquapuncture applied to 43.7%, rescue methods applied to 13.4% of patients, catgut embedding was only 6.95%. Conclusion: The Department of Traditional Medicine treated 3462 outpatients in 2 years 2019 - 2020. The highest rate of musculoskeletal and connective tissue diseases and nervous system disease. Most of patients used non – pharmacological methods.
