Abstract

Objective: To determine the results of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of patients aged ≥75 years with acute ST elevation within 30 days and after 6 months of intervention. Subjects and methods: Interventional, prospective, cross-sectional study was conducted on 104 patients aged ≥75 years, diagnosed with acute ST elevation myocardial infarction, and indicated for primary percutaneous coronary intervention at the Vietnam National Heart Institute - Bach Mai Hospital, Hanoi Heart Hospital, Huu Nghi Hospital from 2018-2023. Results: The door to baloon average time was 2318.77±3236.90 minutes; PCI time ≤12h was 30.8%. All (100.0%) patients had successful intervention about procedurally and clinically; the complication proportion was 3.8%. After intervention, the average ST elevation decreased from 2.82±1.39mm to 0.99±1.08mm, p<0.05; TIMI 3 level after intervention was 99.0%, p<0.05. Within 30 days of intervention, the proportion of death patients 6.7%; arrhythmia 4.8%. After 6 months of intervention, the proportion of death patients 5.2%; hemorrhage 1.0%. Conclusion: PCI of patients aged ≥75 years with acute ST elevation myocardial infarction has achieved high results and low major adverse cardiovascular events.
