Abstract

Objectives: To assess the result of percutaneous pedicle screw fixation to treatment thoracolumbar fracture at Thai Nguyen national hospital. Subjects and method: A descriptive study of 38 cases patients with thoracolumbar fracture instability was treated by percutaneous pedicle screw fixation of Neuro – Spine department at Thai Nguyen national hospital from 2019 to 2021. Result: 38 patients (28 men, 10 women), mean age was 40,4±11,3; age group from 31-40 has the highest rate with 36,9%. Short term outcome after surgery was assessed according to VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) and Cobb angle after surgery: Evaluation of clinical symptoms improvement after surgery: VAS back pain improved from 5,08 to 2,29; Cobb angle decease from 14 ± 4,9 to 7,5 ± 3,9. Mean of time surgery was 69,1±15,7 minutes. Intraoperative compications: rupture of the anterior vertebral body wall in 1 case (2,6%). Postoperative complications: a case of wound infection (2,6%). Conclusion: Percutaneous pedicle screw fixation is a safe and effetive procedure, reduce time at hospital in the treatment of thoracolumber fracture.
